DIY wood Frame

Today we are building this DIY Wood Frame as a beautiful dark walnut stained picture frame and making a simple artwork print look just like a canvas. Feel free to use whatever wood and stain that you prefer, and make it look just how you want to fit your home!

We wanted some artwork for home but didn’t want to spend a fortune. So we found some digital downloads on Etsy and ordered a 2′ x 3′ print from our local Walgreens. We made this frame and used Modge Podge and a piece of plywood to make the picture look just like a canvas.

With a little bit of creativity, some different router bits, the stain of your choice, and some wood glue you can create the frame that is just as much a piece of art as the artwork it is framing!

Materials

  • 2 1x3x8 pine
  • 2 1x2x8 pine
  • Dark Walnut Stain
  • Modge Podge
  • 2’x3′ OSB Plywood (this is just what I used, but you can modify to however you want it to look)
  • Foam roller and tray for modge podge
